Hello Everyone! Hope you all are having a great week! This week, I’ll be sharing some of my organizational tips.
In the midst of everything going on in my life, I have to stay organized in order to have some sort of balance and a peace of mind. For me, it’s not enough to just be organized in my professional life; I have to be organized in my personal life as well. Here are my tips on staying organized in all aspects of your life:
Set reminders. Reminders can be really helpful for anything you have reoccurring or things that happen randomly. Somethings that I set reminders for are bills, making phone calls to family members, taking my vitamins, and booking flights.
Make lists. Any time I feel like I have a lot going on or a lot I need to do, I make a list of everything thing I have to do in relation to a specific thing. When I’m packing for a trip, I make a list of all the things I want to bring with me. When I have a weekend to myself, I make a list of all the things I want to accomplish from chores to errands. Lists help you focus on what you really care about at a specific moment in time.
Use your calendar. My calendar is one of my best friends. So many days and dates tend to run together, having it on a calendar really helps me iron things out especially when impromptu stuff comes along. Having multiple calendars for work and my personal life also furthers your organizational skills and keeps you on top of things.
Track your progress. My last tip is really related directly to organization in the workplace. Depending on your job you may have multiple ongoing projects and even if you work on one before the other your responsibility doesn’t just drop from them. Creating an excel spreadsheet containing all your projects and your current progress on them. Document any hurdles as well as who can help you overcome those roadblocks if there are any. Not only does this keep you organized, but you also have something that you can send to your manager so he or she can see your progress on things that you are working on which can help you prioritize and strategize on getting things done.
So there you have it! How do you guys stay organized? Let us know @MacScientists either on Facebook or Twitter.
