Happy New Year, Everyone! Yes, I recognize that we’re more than a week into the new year but who cares? I’m excited for this year and can’t wait to see what this year has in store.
Someone in a Facebook group I’m a part of askes the question “what word are you using to describe 2018?” My answer to that question was growth and I feel that this applies to all my New Year’s Resolutions that I’ll be sharing with you all today. Here we go:
Professional Growth. I’ve talked a lot about being on this new team at work and I feel now that I’m not just the “new person” and really have a stake in what’s at play. I feel as the though the people I work closely with see my potential and are willing to give me opportunities to help me grow. I want to sieze all those opportunities to learn new concepts as well as continue growing and building my professional brand which will hopefully lead to advancements in my career.
Financial Growth. This past year I’ve worked full time at my job and have successfully managed to stay afloat while having some fun as well. This year, I want to be more disciplined with how I choose to spend my money. I want to save more and possibly look into investing more seriously. I want to be able to live comfortably but have a lot more room in case of emergencies. A big thing for me this year will be cutting out a huge chunk of debt due to my car, student loans, etc.
Personal Growth. This one is probably the biggest theme for me. I want my current relationships to strengthen and for all of us to build and grow together. I want to meet new people to engage and connect with to gain more perspective. I want to read more, travel more, and just explore more within my own city. I want to understand more about the world and how we all engage with it. A big thing I want to do this year is complete three personal side projects (you’ll probably hear about them later on this year).
So these are some of my big themes that will be fueling my goals for this year. I hope to accomplish all of them and make this year better than my last. What are some of your goals this year? Tweet us and message us to let us know! - The Engineer
