Hey everyone! I hope you're having a great week. Columbus is in the full swing of Fall finally so I'm enjoying this hoodie weather before it gets too cold. This week we decided to talk about some of the mantras we live by. For me, I feel like it changes as my priorities change, so these are the ones I currently try to remind myself of.
“Growth is not linear.“
This year for me has been about growth in all aspects of my life and this is a phrase I constantly try to remember when I'm feeling like I'm not progressing enough. We all grow at different rates and under different conditions, there's not one right way to do it. I have to consistently remind myself that every season is going to bring different challenges. Some I'm going to see a lot of wins, others I'm going to experience some losses. How I grow isn't going to be a straight line, if anything it's going to look like a hot mess. There's going to be a lot of twists and turns, forward AND backward movement, but that is completely okay, it's supposed to look like that.
“Be intentional.“
I have been telling anyone that will listen that I've been trying to be intentional with everything this year. I'm trying my best to be nicer to myself, kinder to others, more disciplined in my work, etc. The last few years I felt like I wasn't setting my intentions the best way I could've been so this year I'm changing that. Find your purpose for doing the things you're doing and when you act on it, act on it fully. If you're trying to set better boundaries (something I personally am working on), set them and stick to them! Choose yourself and mean it. It's hard, trust me, but it's honestly the best decision I've made in 2019.
”If it doesn't open, it’s not your door.”
I saw this quote on IG one day and it really stuck with me. I started thinking about all of the opportunities I thought I wanted that didn't pan out and how, in hindsight, it was a great thing they didn't. God has set a specific path for us and he knows us better than we know ourselves. We have to trust His plan honestly, which is wayyyy easier said than done. Setbacks, or what we think are setbacks, aren't necessarily a bad thing. In my experience, every "setback" I've had has opened me up for a better opportunity, the one I ACTUALLY needed. Yes, we're going to be sad or disappointed when they come, but just know it's temporary and something better is coming your way.
Let me know what mantras you're living by these days. Tweet me or comment under our posts on IG and Facebook! I'd love to hear some and add them to my list.
