The Analyst

Updated: Nov 25, 2020

Hi, my name is Courtney Young aka “The Analyst”, I am a recent graduate from Frostburg State University with a degree in Information Technology concentration in business information systems. I chose this major because although I am tech savvy, I also have a knack for business processes and management so I wanted to combine the two. I also played collegiate basketball all four years at Frostburg State, and basketball is and will always be a pivotal part of my life. While in college, I also served as an Events Director for the University Programming Council for two years. This was a great way for me to meet students of all different backgrounds and give back to my school community. Currently, I work as a contractor for Department of Defense, and as a sports statistician for a sports company.

I decided to write for, and be part of Mac Scientists because as a child, and even sometimes now, there are periods of time that I feel alone or in need of a mentor to guide me in the things I was interested in, such as technology and sports. Sometimes it was hard for me to find teachers or students I could relate to in my classes because many times I was the only black female. Although race is not everything, at times it can feel like the only thing. I hope that I can help young black females pursuing a career in STEM understand that we are not alone, even when the classroom, or life situation may feel like it.
